Hi, I am looking for a 500V Bakelite Megger with the crank handle on the side. Would anyone have one that they are willing to part with?

I think I have one at my parents place, but I think the glass window might be broken, cracked on it. I will have a dig out if you are still interested.

Yes I still would be interested assuming I could service it and replace the screen. I have not had a good chance to look at one close up for any amount of time so I am unsure whether I could service it.
Thanks

Hi Aeelct,
Thanks for your message. My budget would probably let me stretch to the $100 mark. If that is ridiculous dont be offended as I do not really know their worth. Furthermore I am an apprentice so I'm not really rolling in cash.
Anyway, if you would like to talk further give me a call on the number above.
Thanks

I have one, however I use it on every job and wouldn't part with it no matter what, depending on the fault you can almost feel what it is depending on the pressure applied.
Clients love it when I get it out, it is old school, lovely worth a lot of money $100.00 not a chance

TEX, I was working on a site the other day with a guy named Don (probably the person called Donald above). I had left my Megger at home and he pulled a red bakelite one. Cranking away on this thing to test the circuit was a bit more interesting than pressing a button.
Anyway, I've always liked vintage gear. for a long while I collected photography gear, but since I now work in the electrical field I might turn my searches to sparky gear (that serves a purpose).

Sadly this particular item might be out of my price range for now. Maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled at second hand shops.

Mk II model 40 AVO (ex NZR) c/w case and original handbook; went for $40 at auction a couple of months back

AlecK, what auction are you referring to?

I have found some stuff overseas that looks good, but then there is the shipping costs.
