Posted By Topic: Employing an SA electrician

Oct 29 2019 10:20

Hi all,

I'm going through the process of employing a South African immigrant. One of the stipulations on the EWRB letter is:
"Confirmation that Stage 3 of the Electrician's practical assessment coursework has been completed; including current competency training".
I've asked the EWRB what exactly this means, but haven't heard back. Is this an extra course that he'll need to do (and if so, what's the name of it) or just evidence he's done a competency course/refresher? thanks.

When you come in from overseas, the EWRB assess your paperwork to see if you have passed the relevant exams (normally as an apprentice). If they are all ok, then the final stage is a 3 day practical assessment. This is stage 3. If they have done it they will have a cert proving the fact.
